Title: Development Associate

Reports to: Director of Development


    Position Description:
    The Development Associate is responsible for supporting development activities within the organization by assisting in the implementation of all strategies to achieve annual revenue goals. This position will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of quality in tracking and reporting donor data using the agency’s donor database. The Development Associate will coordinate and produce all donor gift acknowledgements, analyze donor data to promote donor retention and stewardship, assist in fundraising events and donation drives, and work closely with the Development Director on other development and communication projects as needed.

    Primary Duties:
  • Record, process and acknowledge gifts following IRS regulations
  • Conduct database analysis to grow and retain donors and improve data integrity
  • Generate mailing lists, reports and queries from the database
  • Work closely with accounting to report donations and reconcile fundraising and accounting data
  • Respond to donor inquiries, providing excellent customer service
  • Assist with planning and implementing fundraising events
  • Coordinate, track and manage in kind donations and drives
  • Assist with the production and implementation of appeal campaigns and other fundraising communications and strategies
  • Assist with preparation of grant proposals and grants management as needed.
  • Perform other administrative tasks related to development and communications based on needs of the organization and the successful candidate’s interests, aptitudes, and experience.
  • Contribute to building a system of donor stewardship and creating a culture of philanthropy.

    Job Qualifications and Skills:
  • At least one year applicable experience with data management; previous experience with Raiser’s Edge or other donor database management preferred
  • Meticulous attention to detail and follow up
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Strong customer service focus with respect to constituents as well as internal customers.
  • Ability to comfortably adjust from working independently to a team-based environment at times
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • Ability to work under set deadlines
  • High degree of integrity, ethical decision making and sound judgment; able to honor confidentiality of information

    Hours and Benefits:
    This is a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week.  Must have some flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekend events when needed. Benefits include generous PTO, holiday pay, short and long term disability, health insurance, and employer paid life insurance.
