Face to Face offers many services for young people ages 11 to 23. We are sensitive to young people’s needs and offer health care and support services that are high-quality and affordable even without insurance.

Medical Clinic

Our medical clinic offers young people high quality health care at a low cost. Our culturally-sensitive services include: reproductive health and family planning (birth control) services; prenatal care for Moms-to-be; sexually transmitted infection testing; HIV testing; and FREE pregnancy testing. We also offer immunizations (shots); physicals for sports, school or work; and can diagnose chronic (ongoing) problems. Our nurse practitioners and doctors specialize in working with youth. Last year, Face to Face's clinic served 1,438 youth and young adults.

Mental Health

Our mental health staff is here to help young people deal with the problems that keep them from being safe, happy, and successful in school and at home. We talk to 11-23 year olds about everything from abuse and depression to parent-child conflicts and worries about sexuality. Young people ready to make changes in their lives can get help from our therapists and licensed social workers and find ways to connect better with their families, peers, and communities. Many of our clients find it helpful to talk to peers experiencing the same kinds of problems. We offer support groups for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) teens and their families and survivors of sexual abuse. Please click here to see a listing of all of the available support groups at Face to Face.

Face to Face also offers a program called Intensive Systems Therapy (IST), an intensive home-based therapy for violent and severely emotionally disturbed youth and their families. Last year, our mental health staff served 341 youth and young adults.

SafeZone

Homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth ages 14-20 can find a safe and supportive place to visit at SafeZone, the only drop-in resource center of its kind in Ramsey County. SafeZone offers a youth-friendly environment staffed by case managers and outreach outworkers. We help youth with basic needs such as emergency shelter, food, clothing, and hygiene supplies; and medical and mental health services. SafeZone also offers case management, GED counseling and tutoring, and help with finding safe housing, employment, and education. 779 youth made 4,809 visits to SafeZone last year and thousands of additional youth were reached through targeted street outreach.

Connect

Connect supports healthy pregnancies, healthy parenting and healthy choices. Our clients work with a case manager, learn about pregnancy and parenting through educational activities, and can join support groups for pregnant and parenting youth. Our health educators do outreach around family planning, STI and HIV prevention, and other adolescent health issues.

We understand that different communities have different needs. Connect offers health education programs especially for Hmong teens. We look at the big picture when helping a young woman build a support system. This might include directing her to a prenatal class, helping her get medical insurance, or finding a crib for her baby. Connect helps pregnant and parenting youth become more self-sufficient. Last year 298 youth made 1,970 visits with Connect staff.

Face to Face Academy

The Academy is a charter school for students who have not been successful in traditional high school settings. Empowering approximately 60 students at a time, the Academy gives students hands-on experience in the key academic areas of math, English, social studies, science, and health. We look out for the whole person, helping students focus not only on doing well in school, but on reaching personal goals, building life skills, and using creative expression to thrive and survive independently.
