Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing primary care (assessment and treatment of minor and acute health concerns typical of adolescents, and health maintenance, including immunizations) and reproductive health care (family planning, teen pregnancy, STD diagnosis and treatment).
Key Responsibilities Summarized Below:
- Review clients’ health histories and presenting concerns/symptoms, and prepare them for exam or visit; this may include: temperature, weight, blood pressure, vision screening, clean catch urine specimens, immunization, explanation of exam procedures (including venipuncture, pelvic/breast exams, STD testing) and ability to assess and triage clients appropriately for needed lab work, as well as for referral (when indicated) to other providers
- Administer immunizations/Mantoux skin tests per protocol and standing orders as required, and plan follow up in order to record/read results
- Perform physical assessments and examinations appropriate to assess primary health concerns and reproductive health concerns covered by Face to Face medical protocols and guidelines
- Diagnose routine primary and reproductive health concerns, and prescribe/recommend appropriate medication/treatment, as indicated by standards of practice, and according to Face to Face protocol
- Prescribe, dispense, and administer medications as indicated
Qualifications and Expectations
- Current MN RN license, Women's Health NP, Adult NP or Family NP Certification from accredited program, with broad experiential background in adolescent health
- Prescriptive agreement as required by Minnesota State Board of Nursing
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in a clinic setting
- Ability to work sensitively and effectively with adolescent clients from every socio-economic and ethnic group represented in our community, who present a broad spectrum of physical and psychological health issues
- Passion for working with at-risk youth population
Hours and How to Apply:
This is a full-time, 37.5 hours a week position. Applicant must be able to work one evening per week and an occasional Saturday.
